A few months ago I snapped about my excitement in trying out a coal deodorant to detox my armpits. I promised to stick through the process until the end. And the good news is that I DID!! YAY!!
And although at first I had my doubts, especially by week 3/4 where this detox made me sweat like a cow, way more than usual, I officially can say it is the BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO MY ARMPITS!! Yes, I mean every word. The Takesumi Detox deodorant by Kaia Naturals has done wonders to my underarms. And I will explain why that is, what my journey looked like and how this stuff actually works.
I am not much of a "sweat-er", meaning I don't sweat often unless I do some aggressive activity like move a mountain or arm wrestle a lion. I do not mean I don't sweat, no of course I sweat, I am human after all. Sweating is a healthy way of controlling our body temperature, while some people experience excessive sweating which is exacerbated by an increase in physical activity and how much fat your body carries, others tend to have a good balance in their sweating, regulation of body temperature and sweat more efficiently. I can resonate with the latter. The only time I have experienced excessive sweating was after labor and delivery and the following 30 days after that. And that's for a whole other set of reasons that I will not get into because today we are talking about detoxing our armpits on the regular basis without any significant life changes. .
Not to gross you out, but I will confess to smelling awful when I sweat. ("Okay, duh we all do!" Well yes we all do but not everyone publicly admits it or heck writes a post about it so don't judge 😛 ). If I go a day without putting on deodorant, boy oh boy, will I lose a lot of friends (hehe, just kidding....). The key to a healthy armpit is not temporarily stopping the smell but rather being almost odorless even if you do not use a deodorant for half the day. And second cleansing the sweat periodically throughout the day.
How It Works
This deodorant is the FIRST EVER to have activated charcoal which helps trap chemicals and prevent its absorption into the skin. Smelly armpits are a sign that we have excessive buildup of chemicals from all the years and the only thing we have been doing to manage it is using regular deodorants that put more chemicals. Without an efficient and effective detox, those chemicals (aka the smell) will always remain. So why is Takesumi the best damn thing that has ever happened to my armpits, because THEY DO NOT SMELL!!! (Hard to believe right?) With proper cleansing and hygiene, using clay soap, wearing natural fabrics (which is why I emphasis on organic cotton especially for babies), drink loads of water which I normally do and continue my regular exercise that helps me sweat (even if it's just a little). During this detox, sweating will help the process because it will extract the chemicals through your sweat glands.

It took my body 2 months to complete the detox cycle and only after 2 months of using it did I really see the results Takesumi claimed. Only then were my doubts cleared.
